Warming
Families is one aspect of the
One Heart
Foundation's primary mission which is to strengthen families. Families and
individuals who
are homeless or displaced are strengthened by the generosity of others. One of
the greatest comforts to families affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks
has been the outpouring of compassion by millions of people worldwide. Families
who are
strengthened by the love of others are encouraged and often gain an even greater
resolve to meet the challenges that lay before them.
The blessings and benefits of helping
others goes in both directions. Just as families who receive are strengthened, so are
families who give. Warming Families encourages family participation and provides
an ideal outlet for family activity. Like team sports, families working together
for the benefit of others engenders a sense of team spirit. Families become united in their
goal, and children learn by example, as selfless giving builds character and
returns an immediate sense of accomplishment and personal fulfillment.
